...the main event!

It was a defensive battle in the Spring Cup finals for the HPC West 8 Goal League! Both teams remained scoreless after the second chukker, but something started clicking for the Rene Campos' Eureka team in the third chukker.  Eureka won the chukker 3 to 1 to send the teams into half time. Spectators enjoyed another beautiful Spring Sunday in Houston, as they stomped divots, drank complimentary champagne, and tried their hand at the new Pony Hop! The field looked pristine after everyone's hard work, and the players were ready to battle it out for the next three chukkers.

ERG had a good half time talk, as Scott Wood converted an open goal penalty and Marcos Alberdi scored one from the field, which left the teams tied going into the fifth chukker. Eureka's Alvaro Ara snuck a 60 yard penalty through the posts in the fifth chukker to put Eureka back ahead by one.  At this point, everyone knew that last chukker was going to be an exciting one, and it was!ERG's Dorignac tied the game early in the sixth, but Eureka's Cernadas came back with a quick goal to reclaim a one goal lead.  In a last ditch effort to pull ahead, ERG's Alberdi scored two goals from the field, back to back, giving ERG a one goal lead as the horn blew, marking the end of the game.  Final score, ERG 6 defeated Eureka 5
